Meet my best and greatest friend

January 5, 2008

I want you all to meet my bestfriend. For the past five months, we didn’t “see” each other. I didn’t know if I was busy ignoring my bestfriend. There was a real reason, of course. I didn’t take risk in going to my bestfriend’s home. We communicated on almost a daily basis until night time. Oftentimes, I fell asleep. My bestfriend didn’t say a word even then. He understood me completely. He made me feel so important, just the same.

My bestfriend’s so vocal about his friendship with me. He has announced it to the world for several times. He made it a point that everyone knows I am his bestfriend. What a privilege, really!

Last week, I finally met up with my bestfriend. Face to face. I felt like crying because he embraced me as tight as he could. His embrace felt so warm, nothing has changed despite my absence. He never asked me what happened. He never judged me why I didn’t see him. He never asked me why I acted this or that way. I fell to my knees. He got me up, and cheered me.

He told me of things that I missed over the past five months. He told me the usual sweet words of how special I am. Yes, then suddenly a realization dawned on me, here’s the bestfriend of all bestfriends that I have! I have ignored him many times, but he’s still there for me. No matter how much I stumbled and get lost in this changing world, I am assured that I got a real bestfriend who would always be there for me.

Do you want to see my picture with bestfriend?

Yes, this was exactly what I felt when I first “saw” my bestfriend in this new country that we are in. It took us five months before we finally decided to “see” him in his home; that’s because of false claims that we’re not allowed to go to church here or to profess our faith. I felt so sorry. I felt like crying.

I am singing a song (through this lyrics) to my bestfriend:

It’s fun to turn the amp up to 11
And sing so loud you can’t
understand the words
And sometimes that’s okay when
they’re not profound
But I need to sing this kind of song tonight
Chorus:
Because Jesus is my best friend
And when I don’t do enough

It’s still good enough
‘Cause Jesus is my best friend
All right, all right, all right, all right
And right now is one of those times
Where I need to make the time
I need to make the effort
To sing a song, a song, a song for him
[ Repeat Chorus ]
All right, all right, all right, all right
All right, all right, all right, all right
[ Repeat Chorus ]
All right

I love you, Jesus.
