I was tagged by Panaderos. I thought of waiting for another time to do this tag because I don’t have a book near me (I mean, books I am currently reading). Ooops. I have one here beside me- but it’s hubi’s book on Project Management. In fact, I haven’t read this book yet. But I was curious as to the insight that page 123 of the book would give me so I decided to follow right away the rules of the tag:

1. Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

1. Project Management by Gary R. Herkeens
2. Currently at p.123
3. 5th sentence: “Secure resource commitments and begin assessing their availability, based upon the current version of the schedule you developed…”
4. Next three sentences:

Rework schedule (recalculating dates and times) as needed to accommodate resource constraints, such as part-time participation levels or specific periods of unavailability. You may need several iterations to match availability to dates. Additional iterations may be needed as you accommodate external constraints.

What a great reminder for project managers, and to others who are soooo workaholic - working till the wee hours, and even during weekends…like hubi. :D

Applying the lesson of the insights in page123 of Project Management book to a general perspective we call “LIFE!”, it just simply states that sometimes in life, we really have to rework our schedule if the old and current schedule that we are following don’t work for us. There are times too that we have to make a detour of our efforts if they don’t do us good. And yes, in life, we need to allocate allowances - for errors, for reserved resources such as strength and energy, and most of all, for time to celebrate life.

5. I am tagging five friends: Ems, Jho, Lazarus, Mel, and Tina.

Thanks for doing the tag. It’s much appreciated.

Your quote brings up a very good and valid point. As our responsibilities increase, there is indeed a point where we have to revisit our old schedule to reassess some of the things we used to think of as priorities in our life. What may have been important in the past may no longer be that important today. Take care.
