Of friendship, camera, and tripod

After living for over a year in our new residence, I finally felt at peace - with the surrounding, with how my life runs, with how I manage my day-to-day living. I am still not... (left blank intentionally)...But it's what life is all about. We always look for more. However, there are times that I would just stop whining about the littleness, and instead focus on how God made me rich through the friendships that my husband and I have developed here in just five months.

Remember what I wrote before - when I finally met my best and greatest friend after five longish months of staying in this new land! After that tearful meeting, I finally found myself always visiting my friend's home. You may want to read the post here before reading this post.

AND life has never been the same since then.

If we had been afraid to profess our faith before in this new land because of lies from uncalled for sources, God never left us. Armed with faith and courage in our hearts, we found our way to Him. We are serving Him - hubi joins the music ministry (although he rarely and barely attends during choir practice for lack of time) while I just watch him perform (LOL); and we are always of service to the Christian community here. God blessed us with so many friends day after day, week after week, month after month.

Our friends come from various countries, groups, ages, and vocations (starting from parishioners to priests to His Lordship). We are somehow the youngest among them. No one asks about how much you get, how much is in your bank account. Everyone respects one another. There's no pretense. And, we all do get along - with one purpose - to be happy because we are all away from our home country, and to serve the Lord .

We meet at the church to serve, to praise and worship; we meet somewhere (in anyone's house) to cook and eat heartily; we meet along the seaside to savor the inviting small waves and stillness of the sea. And in every occasion, our camera is the sole witness of our every emotion. The camera on top of that not-so-sturdy tripod eagerly awaits for the tick of the remote control to capture our smiling faces, our wacky shots, our blessed hearts, and healthy tummies.

Like how I value much my family back home, and my growing family here in this new land, I am also valuing the people that God allowed me to meet.

I value so much this certain friend who cooks for me whenever she has the free time just so my baby in my womb and I can eat healthy foods and the foods I crave. I value these blessed, spiritual leaders who pray for us everyday and who bless us in their own ways through the guidance of God, yet manage to be so human and real for us when time dictates so.

I feel so overwhelmed writing this post. I feel so loved by my God. I feel so attuned with nature, with natural people, with spiritual people. We cannot leave alone. We need the support of everyone around us. Even if we feel alone at the current moment, in a new place or country, or even when we feel alone in our hearts, this feeling of being alone will just pass IF WE allow our hearts to open up; if we allow God to work on us and heal us of our painful memories and longings for material things; if we allow God to use our talents and skills to serve him and His people, and many more.

A year ago, my heart wasn't into this place. But I have to be where my hubi is. He was accepted in three countries, but he chose to stay here. I was battling with choosing the other country, but God had a message for me. I remember sis.v who prayed for me and my hubi during those indecisive months that I had. She told me of the purpose why we are here - that we'd be instruments of evangelizing other people. Now, I am sure that what's happening currently in our lives is written and planned by God even before we knew that it would happen - the friendships, the sharing of talents, the growing spirituality I never experienced before.

Yesterday, my good friend, titaj, cooked for me and my hubi - in a span of five hours, she was able to cook a lot of dish - from three different kinds of viands to deserts (banana cake and ice candy) - and man, they were so delicious! We invited two good friends to dine with us. It turned out that they were with our other friends! We had an instant dinner party last night, and of course, the camera and tripod captured that wonderful moment once again. Hubi and I were extremely happy. I am sure that my baby inside me was also beaming for joy.

Now everything is back to normal - everyone has to attend to one's work and personal agenda. But the week would never pass without meeting again - for fellowship and service to the Lord and the rest of our brethren.

My God, thank you for not letting me feel alone even in the midst of a place I hardly knew. Thank you for giving me friendships that allow me to grow as a spiritual person and more so as a real person.

You seem to be enjoying your stay in that country interacting with new friends and acquaintances. The Lord has plot your life to every spot where your feet will walk. You are blessed by the Lord because you follow His will in your lives. It would be a lot better if you could share with us your memorable photos. Thanks for the post. Please take care of yourself and your baby. God bless you all always my friend.

It feels good to take a moment and breath and feel satisfied in what God has offered. Its important to do this from time to time and not get caught up in what you don't have or what you want
